Marysvale, UT

Marysvale is a Piute County town on U.S. 89, settled in the 1860s and shaped first by mining in the Tushar Mountains. Gold and silver discoveries drew prospectors into Bullion Canyon and the surrounding country, and the town kept a post office from 1872 onward. The mining era remains visible in abandoned workings, Miners Park, and the roads that climb toward the Canyon of Gold. Marysvale later became known for something with a much different pace: it is a trailhead for the Paiute ATV Trail.

That trail system gives the town a seasonal current of riders, campers, anglers, hunters, hikers, and people headed into the mountains. Piute County describes Marysvale as an access point for the trail and a home for Pioneer Day, the Fish Rodeo, the World's Greatest Little Rodeo, and mining-day events. U.S. 89 connects the town with Junction, the county seat, and the other communities along the Sevier River. Marysvale's story is a neat handoff from mining to recreation: the same canyons, roads, and mountain passes keep bringing people through, first for ore and now for trails.
