Mashpee Neck, MA

Mashpee Neck occupies the narrow strip between the tidal Mashpee River and Shoestring Bay, with Quinaquisset Avenue marking its northern edge. It is one of Mashpee’s seven census-designated places and the largest by population, with 1,076 residents in 2020. Water is the local organizer: the river, bay, marshes, and small roads all shape a place that reads like a coastal section of Mashpee with its own name. The Mashpee Wampanoag homeland gives the shoreline a deeper story, and the tribe’s living presence remains part of the town’s story.

Mashpee Neck Marina sits on Shoestring Bay, while nearby landings and moorings connect residents to the estuary. The CDP has no separate downtown; its character comes from tidal water, Wampanoag history, Cape Cod woods, and residential roads meeting on a narrow neck. It is a small piece of Mashpee, but the map is easy to read: river on one side, bay on the other, town roads running between. You can follow the water almost everywhere you go.
