Masury, OH

Masury is a Trumbull County census-designated place spread across Brookfield and Hubbard townships, just south of the Pennsylvania line and close to Sharon. The 2020 census counted 2,001 residents. Brookfield Local School District operates the public schools for the surrounding township, while township government, the Brookfield post office, local roads, and nearby Sharon and Brookfield supply daily services. Masury sits in the Youngstown-Warren industrial region, but the on-the-ground map is mostly residential streets, wooded lots, and old commercial corridors.

The community took its name from Colonel Fred L. Masury, an early settler. Its history is tied to Brookfield's coal, rail, and manufacturing belt, with work and entertainment once spilling across the township. Yankee Lake Ballroom, opened in 1928 and later part of the incorporated village of Yankee Lake, remains the best-known nearby reminder of the area's dance-hall and lake culture. The Brookfield Historical Society and local paper still cover the shared Brookfield–Masury–Yankee Lake story, while the school district and township meetings handle current civic business. Masury is an unincorporated place whose character comes from the surrounding township's roads, schools, industry, and neighborhood history.
