About Maysville

Tucked along Highway 50 about ten miles west of Salida, Maysville is a quiet mountain community in the upper Arkansas River Valley. With fewer than 200 residents, it offers a peaceful, wooded setting with big views of the surrounding Sawatch Range. The settlement started as an 1870s ranch where the North Fork meets the South Arkansas River, quickly growing into a bustling supply hub when prospectors found silver in the nearby peaks.

By the early 1880s, the railroad ran straight into town, supporting a lively collection of hotels, stores, and saloons. The historic one-room Maysville Schoolhouse still sits near the highway as a charming landmark from those boomtown days. Today, life here revolves around the outdoors, offering a relaxed mountain lifestyle with easy drives into Salida for dining and quick access to skiing at Monarch Mountain just up the pass.
