Sitting in the fertile Washita River valley along the border of Garvin and McClain counties, Maysville is a quiet agricultural town with a relaxed, welcoming pace. Originally founded as a nineteenth-century stagecoach stop called Beef Creek, the community eventually moved slightly north to meet the railroad and grew into a steady farming hub. Today, State Highway 19 runs right through the center of town, making it easy to get around while keeping life pleasantly low-key. Just up the road, the Wiley Post Memorial Reservoir gives locals an easy escape for fishing and relaxing outdoors.
