About McAlmont

McAlmont, also called Mac Side, is a Pulaski County census-designated place adjoining eastern North Little Rock. The Southwest Trail once passed through this area, linking the settlements of Missouri and Texas with Little Rock and Searcy. Harris Elementary School occupies a building with a longer local history than its current name suggests, and much of the community is served by the Pulaski County Special School District. McAlmont is central Arkansas on the edge of a larger city, with an old trail underneath the modern school-and-city map.
