McGaheysville, VA

McGaheysville is a Rockingham County CDP of 978 residents in the 2020 census, stretched along U.S. 33 between Penn Laird and Elkton at the base of Massanutten Mountain. The South Fork Shenandoah River runs nearby, with farmland immediately south and Piney Mountain and Massanutten rising north and east. That gives the place a clear valley map: the highway is the spine, farms fill the low ground, and the mountains set the edges. The community’s story is older than the resort era associated with Massanutten.
