About Meadow Vale
Meadow Vale is a home rule-class city in northeastern Jefferson County, tucked into the Louisville/Jefferson County map. The subdivision was laid out in 1963 on wheat and hay farmland, and the city incorporated four years later, annexing another hundred homes that December. Westport Plaza opened in 1977, first with Kmart and A&P; later storefront history includes Kroger, El Nopal’s first location, and the Hungry Pelican’s 150-gallon aquarium. E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park sits just east, with trails, fields, a pool, and the long-running BMX Grand Nationals. Meadow Vale is a small Louisville-area city whose landmarks are a farm-to-subdivision changeover, one shopping plaza, and a park with a surprisingly serious BMX history.
