Medicine Park, OK

Medicine Park was founded on the Fourth of July in 1908 as Oklahoma's first planned resort town, set right where Medicine Creek meets the foothills of the Wichita Mountains. From the start, folks traveled up from Lawton for the cool swimming holes and fresh mountain air. What really sets the village apart is the stone. Early builders pulled smooth red granite cobblestones straight from the mountains to build houses, shops, and bridges, creating a distinct look that still defines the community today.

Living here gives you the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge practically in your backyard, with hiking trails, granite peaks, and free-roaming bison just minutes away. Down in town, daily life revolves around Medicine Creek and Bath Lake, where residents swim, fish, and relax along the water. It is an easy drive to Lawton and Fort Sill for work and errands, but the quiet streets, local cafes, and independent shops give the area a friendly, laid-back pace year-round.
