About Mena

Mena is a city and the county seat of Polk County, Arkansas, set in the scenic U.S. Interior Highlands. Founded in 1896 by railroad promoter Arthur Edward Stilwell during the construction of the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad, the city became a key mountain hub. The town's historical connection to aviation and regional history inspired settings in the film American Made. The community is served by two local public school districts.
