About Menlo
Menlo is a Thomas County city whose history follows the Union Pacific line across western Kansas. The railroad reached the county in the late 1880s, and Menlo grew around the station; later the line moved south and the tracks through town were removed. By 1975 the community still had a post office, church, recreation center, and Menlo-Rexford Cooperative Elevator, while its post office closed in 1992. Menlo, Rexford, and Selden schools now belong to Golden Plains USD 316, whose high school serves the wider rural district.
