Menomonee Falls, WI

With around 40,000 residents spread across nearly 33 square miles, Menomonee Falls is Wisconsin's largest village, combining a classic small-town feel with the space and conveniences of a major Milwaukee suburb. Locals often refer to it simply as "the Falls." The community gets its name from the scenic waterfall on the Menomonee River at Lime Kiln Park, right near the historic downtown core. Located just northwest of Milwaukee in Waukesha County, it has become one of the region's most popular landing spots for newcomers looking for safe neighborhoods and an easy commute.

Housing in Menomonee Falls offers a healthy mix of styles and price points depending on where you look. Close to the walkable Village Centre, you will find historic homes, mid-century ranches, and cozy bungalows on tree-lined streets. As you move toward the outer edges of the village, you will find newer subdivisions with spacious yards, quiet cul-de-sacs, townhomes, and contemporary apartment communities. Most residents own their homes, and families moving here are served primarily by the School District of Menomonee Falls, with some southwestern neighborhoods feeding into the highly rated Hamilton School District.

One of the biggest perks of living in the Falls is a strong local job market. Several major employers have large operations here, including the corporate headquarters of Kohl's, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, and facilities for Milwaukee Tool and Harley-Davidson. Getting around is simple, as Interstate 41 runs right through the community and puts downtown Milwaukee about twenty minutes away. Everyday errands are quick and convenient too, with plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, and retail centers along Appleton Avenue and County Line Road.

When it comes to free time, the community offers plenty of green space and local events. The refreshed Village Centre serves as a lively gathering hub, where the Village Park amphitheater hosts outdoor summer concerts, food truck nights, and a weekly farmers market. For outdoor recreation, the 16-mile paved Bugline Trail runs right through town, making it easy to bike, walk, or run across northern Waukesha County. You can also hike past the namesake waterfall at Lime Kiln Park or head to Menomonee Park for swimming, camping, and scenic lake trails.
