Mer Rouge, LA

Mer Rouge is a small, welcoming village in Morehouse Parish, set among open crop fields just east of Bastrop. The name translates to "Red Sea" in French, a nod to the reddish sedge grass early settlers found across the local prairie. Today, the community offers a quiet rural setting with wide skies and a backdrop of working farmland. Bastrop sits only seven miles to the west, making routine trips for groceries, healthcare, and everyday shopping quick and easy.
