Merrimac, WI

Set along the north shore of Lake Wisconsin in Sauk County, Merrimac is a quiet, scenic community of about 1,200 residents. Life here is easygoing and revolves around the water, with wooded bluffs and open lake views creating a peaceful backdrop. The area is best known for the Colsac III, a free state-run ferry that carries cars, bikes, and pedestrians across the lake from spring through late fall, linking the town directly to Columbia County.
