Mertztown, PA

Tucked into eastern Berks County's Longswamp Township, Mertztown offers a quiet, rural lifestyle surrounded by rolling farmland and open skies. Located just down the road from Topton, the village originally developed as a nineteenth-century railroad hub and still retains that peaceful, small-town atmosphere. Toad Creek winds gently through the area, and while freight trains still pass along the tracks, the everyday pace is scenic and relaxed.

The community has deep roots going back to the Mertz family who helped settle the valley in the 1700s and early 1800s. You can still see that history across the area in stately old stone homes, the Peter Trexler Mansion, and the historic train station celebrated by the local historical society. With Longswamp Township Park nearby for walking trails and community events, Mertztown gives newcomers a grounded, friendly countryside setting within easy reach of Allentown and Reading.
