Mescalero, NM

Mescalero is a tight-knit mountain community nestled in the pines of south-central New Mexico on the Mescalero Apache Reservation. Home to around 1,500 residents, the town serves as the cultural and civic heart of the Mescalero Apache Tribe. Daily life here revolves around family, community connection, and local heritage. The tribe operates major regional destinations like the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Ski Apache on nearby Sierra Blanca, giving residents easy access to hiking, fishing, and winter sports. The area also holds deep historical roots, including the site of the 1878 Blazer's Mill gunfight from the Lincoln County War.
