About Metamora

Metamora is a Lapeer County village inside Metamora Township, with its four corners forming a compact downtown. Settled in 1836, it grew around the intersection rather than a broad commercial strip; the village still groups utility work, council, planning, and downtown development around the center. Harmer Park is the regular summer gathering point, and the village library and post office keep the middle of town tied to daily errands.

Music in the Park runs on summer evenings, while Metamora Country Days and Hot Air Balloon Festival brings a parade, crafters, equestrian events, food, music, and balloon launches in late summer. A car show uses South Oak Street, and the December Wassail Parade brings horses through downtown. Those dates give the village a rhythm that is easy to follow: four corners, Harmer Park, a few old main-street blocks, and a calendar that keeps sending people back outside. The downtown still gives all those dates a clear home throughout the year for locals.
