Miami Shores fits more than 40 weekly recreation classes and a villagewide sports program into 2.49 square miles. The Community Center's schedule includes gymnastics, martial arts, dance, and senior fitness. Its aquatics complex pairs a year-round eight-lane competition pool with a seasonal water playground and five slides, while village athletics run soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and flag football programs alongside after-school care and camps. Tennis and pickleball have their own clinics and open-play opportunities. Bayfront Park adds a walking path and public views over Biscayne Bay, and the athletic-field complex supplies three soccer fields, two baseball or softball diamonds, a batting cage, and sand volleyball. In 2026, a Saturday afternoon-and-evening market at Optimist Park gave produce, food, and other vendors a recurring place in the weekly calendar. Barry University's main campus adds another layer to local activity.

Its Fine Arts department presents public performances, exhibitions, lectures, and collaborations across music, theater, dance, studio art, photography, and graphic design, providing arts programming within village limits as well as student instruction. Homeownership is high and housing costs are substantial. Miami Shores had an estimated 11,669 residents in 2025, only 0.9 percent above its 2020 estimates base. For 2020–2024, 87.5 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied, the median value of an owner-occupied home was $864,400, and median gross rent was $2,657. During the same period, 30.4 percent of residents were foreign-born and 50.7 percent of those age five and older spoke a language other than English at home. The resulting picture combines stable homeownership with youth sports, senior exercise, waterfront use, university arts, and a weekly outdoor market.
