Middle Village, WI

Middle Village is a census-designated place, in the towns of Menominee and Red Springs, in Menominee and Shawano counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The 2020 census counted 290 residents. Middle Village does not have any legal status as an incorporated municipality. On current Wisconsin State Highway maps published by WisDOT, the community is called Nanaweyah Omīnīhekan. That mix gives Middle Village a clear local shape within Wisconsin, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. The Menominee name Nanāweyah means "middle village".
