Middleport, OH

Middleport sits right along the banks of the Ohio River where Leading Creek flows in, making it the largest village in Meigs County. Settled by flatboat travelers in the late 1700s, the town originally got its name from its spot midway between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Over the years, early river landings, mills, and historic neighborhoods grew together into the layout you see today, giving the town a distinctive small-town character with deep river roots.

The area carries plenty of history, from its role on the Underground Railroad along Leading Creek to its heritage as a bustling railroad and steamboat stop.
