Middleville, NY

Set in the valley where West Canada Creek flows between Newport and Fairfield, Middleville is a quiet, close-knit village with a population of around 400. Its history began in the early 1800s, when settlers used the creek's waterpower to run early mills and small ironworks. Over two centuries later, the village has held onto that relaxed, rural character, framed by the wooded foothills of the Adirondacks.

Life in Middleville is centered on its scenic surroundings and strong sense of community. The creek winds right through the middle of town, offering great spots for trout fishing, kayaking, and walks across the historic stone arch bridges. Route 28 provides a straightforward commute to nearby Herkimer and Utica for work and major shopping, while local kids head just down the road to West Canada Valley Central School. Between the local library, active volunteer fire department, and famous Herkimer Diamond mines right outside town, it is an easygoing place to call home.
