Midway CDP (Seminole County), FL

Midway is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Seminole County, part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford region and located along State Road 46. Its first name, The Midway Point, came from two artesian wells on Sipes Avenue where livestock could be watered. Midway/Canaan City grew as a Black settlement in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, then expanded with Seminole County's celery boom in the 1920s. The name, the wells, and the farm history still give the community a specific place in the Sanford area.

Midway Park on Hurston Avenue has a lighted basketball court, playground, and pavilion with grills. Seminole County's Midway Trail project starts at Roseland Park and is planned to connect to a stormwater pond, Midway Park, and State Road 46 through a paved multipurpose path with benches, an exercise station, and a fishing pier. A county drainage project broke ground in March 2026 after years of local infrastructure work. School, park, trail, and drainage projects now sit alongside the older Sipes Avenue story.
