Milford Square, PA

Milford Square sits on Unami Creek, also called Swamp Creek, in northwestern Bucks County. Route 663 ties the census-designated place to Trumbauersville, Quakertown, and the surrounding Milford Township roads, while the creek runs toward the Perkiomen. The village's old mill landscape remains visible in Achey's Mill and the private Achey's Bridge, a Henry Mercer-designed concrete-reinforced bridge often described as the first of its kind in America. The township around Milford grew from water-powered industry: its network of creeks supported mills, and Achey's Mill remains the best-known surviving example. The area is in Quakertown Community School District, and the small post office uses Milford Square's name while the surrounding area uses Quakertown mail.
