Millburg, MI

Millburg is a Berrien County census-designated place in Benton Charter Township near Bainbridge Township, east of Benton Harbor and just east of the I-94, I-196, and US 31 meeting. The community was the township’s first settlement, and Jehiel Enos built a sawmill and gristmill here in 1834 before helping plat the settlement in 1835. Those two mills give Millburg its early character: water, grain, timber, and a road network growing around a work site. That old mill story still gives the community its local texture.

The present-day map is mostly about the surrounding North Berrien country. The North Berrien Historical Museum includes Millburg among the communities it serves and preserves the area’s photographs, artifacts, and family stories. Paw Paw Lake lies in the same regional landscape, while nearby Benton Harbor and the I-94, I-196 corridor handle the larger connections.
