About Millersport

Millersport is a Fairfield County village that began as a canal town. Mathias Miller laid it out in 1825 as a port of trade on the Ohio-Erie Canal, and a preserved stretch of the canal still cuts through the center. The village now sits along the south and west sides of Buckeye Lake, whose earlier life as the Licking Reservoir was tied to supplying water to the canal. Millersport’s signature date is the Sweet Corn Festival, a Lions Club fundraiser that began in 1947 and fills the days before Labor Day with a parade, music, rides, and the corn itself. Boating and lake businesses add a second rhythm. Millersport is a canal village that grew into a lake town without losing either part of the story.
