Millerstown, PA

Millerstown sits on the eastern bank of the Juniata River in northern Perry County, where U.S. 22/322 meets Pennsylvania Route 17. The borough's roots reach back to 1766, when James Gallagher acquired a tract called Smithfield; David Miller later established a settlement and ferry there. Canal traffic gave the river crossing a commercial phase, and the old stone houses along the borough's streets still reflect its eighteenth- and nineteenth-century growth. Millerstown is also identified as Perry County's oldest town.

Present-day Millerstown keeps its civic life close to the river corridor. Borough Council meets monthly at Borough Hall, the Park and Recreation Committee meets in the Community Park Building, and Millerstown Community Success holds regular meetings in the borough building. The borough site also lists a pool, fire and ambulance services, senior center, schools, churches, and local businesses. The 2020 census counted 685 residents, giving the small borough a compact setting where the Juniata, highway junction, historic houses, and community facilities meet.
