Milton, NH

Milton is the primary village and CDP in the Town of Milton, New Hampshire, on the west side of the Salmon Falls River. The 2020 census counted 593 residents in the CDP, compared with 4,482 in the whole town. The river forms the New Hampshire–Maine line along the village's eastern edge, and the CDP stretches from the outlet of Milton Pond south toward Spaulding Pond. New Hampshire Route 125 runs through the center, with Route 75 meeting it near the southern end.

Water shapes Milton's geography and its older working history. The Salmon Falls River carried mills and local industry, while the ponds and wooded slopes give the village a setting tied to the wider town. Route 125 leads north toward Union and south toward Rochester, and Route 75 carries traffic west toward Farmington. Homes, small businesses, town services, and the river corridor fit into a narrow settlement that serves as Milton's central village. The CDP is a compact New Hampshire place with a Maine border on one side and the larger town's ponds, forests, and roads on the other.
