About Minooka

Minooka is a village southwest of Chicago, with its center in the northeast corner of Grundy County and growth extending into the larger suburban edge. The village began in 1852 when the railroad was built through the area, a common origin story for Illinois towns. The DuPage River adds a local geographic feature, and Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 serves thousands of students. Today Minooka mixes older village roots, subdivisions, schools, warehouses, and commuter access to the Joliet and Chicago regions.
