About Mitchell

Mitchell is a city and the county seat of Davison County, South Dakota, situated along the James River. Incorporated in 1883, the community of approximately 15,600 is the commercial center of the Mitchell micropolitan area. The city is the home of Dakota Wesleyan University and Mitchell Technical College, and features the Dakota Discovery Museum, which showcases the history and art of the Great Plains region.
