About Mogollon

Mogollon is a former mining town in Catron County, built along Silver Creek in the Mogollon Mountains east of Glenwood. The 2020 Census counted 11 residents and 18 housing units. Gold and silver mining shaped the town from the 1880s, and the Little Fannie mine became its principal employer. The National Register's Fannie Hill Mill and Company Town district records the physical pattern of that industry: workers' residences, a hospital, company store, mill, headframe, power plant, and blacksmith shop arranged along roads above the canyon. Listed in 1987 for its mining and architectural legacy, the district leaves workers' homes, mill buildings, and the road climbing Fannie Hill as Mogollon's clearest physical record.
