About Monroeville

Monroeville is a municipality east of Pittsburgh, named for Joel Monroe, the area's first postmaster. Since the mid-20th century it has become one of Pittsburgh's major eastern-suburban commercial centers, with the Monroeville Mall, office parks, hotels, medical services, and the Community College of Allegheny County's Boyce Campus. The municipality is spread out and car-oriented, but highly practical for jobs, shopping, and regional access. Monroeville feels less like a small town than a full-service suburban hub for eastern Allegheny County.
