Monterey is an incorporated town in Putnam County, Tennessee, situated at an elevation of 1,900 feet on the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau. Founded around the historic Standing Stone landmark along Avery's Trace, the mountain community of approximately 2,768 is served by the Putnam County School System for public education locally.
