Montpelier, OH

Montpelier is a Williams County village in northwestern Ohio with 3,942 residents in the 2020 census, platted in 1845 and named for Vermont’s capital. The St. Joseph River and the old rail corridor give the town its practical shape, with the Iron Horse River Trail now following that water-and-rail geography. Montpelier Exempted Village Schools share a south-side campus, so the school, park, and trail routes all sit close to the village edge. The village’s park system carries much of the current local calendar.

Municipal Park and its public pool date to 1958, Founders Park was added in 2022, and the Iron Horse trail was dedicated in 2024. Summer programs include tot ball, soccer, gardening, youth lunch, and free activity time, with the program guide available through the public library. The local scoop is a northwestern Ohio village where an old rail-and-river corridor has become a usable trail, and the parks still connect the school year to the rest of town.
