About Moore Haven

Moore Haven is Glades County's seat on the southwest shore of Lake Okeechobee, where the Caloosahatchee River canal once gave the town a boomtown role and the nickname "Little Chicago." The water still sets the scene: the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail has access points here, and the Chalo Nitka Festival arrives each March. Downtown's historic district holds seven buildings and a cypress tree in its park. Moore Haven is Florida's interior lake country in a canal-and-courthouse shape.
