Known everywhere as “Race City USA,” Mooresville has deep roots in motorsports. More than 60 NASCAR teams and racing businesses call the area home, with high-profile shops like Team Penske and JR Motorsports operating right down the road. Automotive students from across the country train locally at the Universal Technical Institute campus, while fans explore vintage race cars and trophies at the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame and the Memory Lane Museum. Long before race engines arrived, Mooresville was a bustling railroad and textile center.
