About Mooringsport

Mooringsport is a small Caddo Parish community along the southern edge of Caddo Lake, about 18 miles northwest of Shreveport. Home to around 700 people, it has the feel of a quiet rural retreat surrounded by mossy cypress trees and open water. The town got its start in the 1830s when the Mooring family operated a ferry and steamboat landing for the local cotton trade, eventually growing into a busy stop along the Kansas City Southern Railway.
