About Moriarty

Moriarty is a Torrance County city about 40 miles east of Albuquerque, with Historic Route 66 and I-40 running through its modern map. The city began with the Moriarty family’s 1887 homestead, then took shape around the railroad and depot in the early 1900s. Today the municipal airport is home to the U.S. Southwest Soaring Museum, and the Moriarty-Edgewood district crosses the county line to serve both towns. Moriarty is central New Mexico with a railroad past, a highway present, and gliders overhead.
