Mosier, OR

Mosier is a Wasco County city on the south bank of the Columbia River, where Mosier Creek meets the gorge. Jonah Mosier settled here in 1854, ran sawmills near the creek falls, and set up a boat landing for shipping to The Dalles. The railroad arrived in 1882, and fruit growing soon became central: Rosedale Fruit Farm opened in 1878, and the valley became known for apples, cherries, and prunes. The old Columbia River Highway’s Twin Tunnels trail now adds a road-and-river chapter to that history. Mosier is an Oregon town whose story runs from timber and boats to orchards and trail miles.
