About Mossyrock
Mossyrock began as a trading post called Mossy Rock in 1852, named for the 200-foot moss-covered rock at the east end of Klickitat Prairie. The prairie had long been part of the Upper Cowlitz Tribe's landscape, and the town's later history ran through timber, hops, farming, and berries. Today the place's biggest annual marker is the three-day Blueberry Festival at Klickitat Prairie Park, with farm tours, pie contests, cars, and music. Mossyrock's name can sound fanciful until you see the physical detail behind it: one rock gave the community its name, while the prairie and its crops kept the place going.
