About Mound

Mound is a city in western Hennepin County, Minnesota, situated on the shores of Lake Minnetonka approximately twenty-two miles west of Minneapolis. Named after prehistoric Indian mounds once located within its boundaries, the city of approximately 9,100 is famous as the birthplace of the Tonka truck. The community includes the former municipality of Island Park and is surrounded by local water bodies, including Black Lake and Lost Lake.
