Mount Charleston, NV

Located about 35 miles northwest of Las Vegas in the Spring Mountains, Mount Charleston feels like another world entirely. As you drive up Kyle or Lee Canyon, the desert floor quickly gives way to tall pine forests, cool mountain breezes, and temperatures that run 20 to 30 degrees lower than the valley. With only a few hundred full-time residents, the area offers a quiet alpine lifestyle less than an hour from the city.

Life on the mountain centers on the outdoors, from trailhead walks and wildlife watching to winter skiing up at Lee Canyon. Most homes are tucked away among the trees, ranging from rustic A-frames to spacious custom builds. You will need to drive down the hill for supermarkets and everyday errands, but residents gladly trade convenience for fresh air, starry nights, and true four-season living.
