Mount Hope, WV

Mount Hope is a quiet mountain town set about eight miles north of Beckley, right on the doorstep of the New River Gorge. The area originally boomed as a major coal headquarters in the early twentieth century. After a massive fire swept through downtown in 1910, locals rebuilt the community from solid brick and stone, earning it the lasting nickname "The Phoenix City." Today, those handsome storefronts and historic streets give the town a distinct, grounded character.

Living in Mount Hope means enjoying a slower, close-knit pace with easy access to world-class hiking, climbing, and whitewater rafting.
