Mount Pulaski, IL

Perched on a high ridge rising above the central Illinois prairie, Mount Pulaski is a quiet, tight-knit town of around 1,500 residents. Daily life revolves around the historic square, where local businesses, small eateries, and community events bring neighbors together. The community has roots reaching back to the 1830s, taking its name from Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski. Standing at the center of the square is the 1848 brick courthouse, where Abraham Lincoln regularly practiced law as a traveling circuit attorney. Today, the preserved courthouse and shaded town square continue to anchor the community, giving residents a proud sense of history alongside easy driving access to nearby cities like Lincoln, Springfield, and Decatur.
