About Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai is a hamlet and census-designated place on Long Island's North Shore, in the Town of Brookhaven. Old Mans Harbor gives the community a coastal setting, and during the American Revolution the area was under British control. Major Benjamin Tallmadge, known for his role in the Culper spy ring, is part of the broader local Revolutionary War context. Today Mount Sinai is mostly residential, with schools, neighborhoods, and access to the harbor, Port Jefferson, and the quieter side of Suffolk County's North Shore.
