Life in Mukilteo naturally centers around the waterfront on Possession Sound. For generations, people have gathered along this shoreline, where local tribal leaders signed the historic 1855 Treaty of Point Elliott. Today, the water's edge features a modern ferry terminal designed in the style of a traditional Coast Salish longhouse. Hopping the ferry to Whidbey Island is a favorite weekend routine for locals, whether heading out for a day trip or taking in the views of the Olympic Mountains across the water.

Mukilteo grew from an early trading post and timber mill into a scenic, close-knit seaside town.
