Mulberry Grove is a quiet Bond County village of around 500 residents, situated along Route 140 just a mile north of Interstate 70. It sits right between Greenville and Vandalia, making it a convenient spot for anyone who wants relaxed, small-town living within an easy drive of larger neighboring towns. The community has deep historic roots along the old National Road corridor. In the early stagecoach days, locals actually called the area Shakerag because travelers would wave a rag to signal the coach to stop, before the village eventually took its current name from the surrounding mulberry trees. Today, it remains a peaceful, close-knit rural community with plenty of open space and direct highway access.
