Mulberry, IN

Mulberry is a Clinton County town on State Road 38, founded in 1858 around the mulberry tree that gave it its name. The town developed as a market point for surrounding farms; rail lines reached it in the 1870s, and the interurban added another link in the early twentieth century. You can still read that small-service-center role in the current map: post office, bank, telephone company, restaurants, a gas station, and local health and retirement facilities all operate alongside town hall and the park. State Road 38 remains the main through route, keeping the town tied to the farm district around it.

Mulberry Fest returns on the fourth weekend in June, while Mulberry Centennial Park includes recreation facilities and a reservable center for gatherings. Town services include water, wastewater, streets, parks, and police, so the community’s modern structure is easy to see alongside its older railroad and farming history. The local read is a road-and-rail town that still serves its farm district through small businesses, public utilities, park space, and a health-and-retirement campus.
