Muldraugh, KY

Muldraugh is a home-rule city split between Meade and Hardin counties, with city limits enclosed by the Fort Knox reservation. It sits along the old Muldraugh Hill route, where a small agricultural settlement gained a post office in 1874 and a railroad depot in 1882. U.S. 31W and U.S. 60 mark the western edge, and Brandenburg Station Road leads toward Fort Knox's north entrance. The 2020 census counted 1,040 residents. That geography puts a small municipal community directly inside the orbit of a major Army installation.

Fort Knox is part of Muldraugh's daily map even though the city remains separately governed. Water payments, city offices, and local streets belong to Muldraugh, and the surrounding reservation controls the larger landscape beyond the incorporated blocks. The railroad and highway history still show in the city's location: Muldraugh began as a stop on a regional route, then became a transportation point along a military corridor. Residents use nearby Elizabethtown, Radcliff, and Louisville-area connections for larger services, while the city's own identity is concentrated in the road corridor, municipal center, and houses gathered along the ridge.
