On summer Wednesday evenings, the shoreline at Idle Isle Park becomes seating for the Muskego Water Bugs' free ski show on Little Muskego Lake. The nonprofit team teaches boating security and performs from late May through Labor Day; its July 3 program adds food and fireworks over the lake. Idle Isle also provides a swimming beach, fishing pier, and boat launch, so the same waterfront supports ordinary swimming, angling, and paddling. Little Muskego is one of three lakes within the city. Lake Denoon has a municipal launch, while Big Muskego Lake is a broad, shallow marsh system. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the city have preserved hundreds of surrounding acres for fishing, canoeing, wildlife observation, hunting, and habitat protection. The park system reaches well beyond those shorelines. Park Arthur includes an archery range and ball fields; Engel Conservation Area combines wetland, woodland, and prairie habitat with four miles of trails; and Muskego County Park protects 60 acres of hardwoods designated as a State Scientific Area alongside its beach, campground, and hiking routes.

Water also shapes local memory. Muskego Beach Amusement Park operated on Little Muskego Lake from 1861 to 1977, taking the name DandiLion Park in its final decade. The Old Settlement Centre preserves five relocated buildings near Veterans Memorial Park, where the present-day DandiLion Daze festival and parade return in late August. At Muskego Public Library, the 2026 calendar extended shared activity into the week with summer reading, family performances, history programs, virtual-reality sessions for teens, a children's Lego makerspace club, movies, and a monthly coffee gathering.
