Mutual, OK

Mutual is a Woodward County town on County Road E0540, three miles west of U.S. 270/183 and about nineteen miles southeast of Woodward. The area opened to settlement after the 1893 Cherokee Outlet land run, and Mutual's post office was designated in 1895 before the town incorporated in 1908. Persimmon Creek, local farms, and the highway bypass shaped its later course; a planned railroad never reached the town. Mutual's present geography still joins a county-road center, a creek valley, and the agricultural and energy history of northwest Oklahoma.
